De Novo Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and ChemOvation Ltd. announce drug research collaboration

De Novo Pharmaceuticals Ltd and ChemOvation Ltd are pleased to announce that they have entered into a collaborative agreement for the provision of synthetic chemistry services directed towards certain De Novo drug discovery targets. Under the terms of the collaboration, full details of which have not been disclosed, ChemOvation will provide synthetic chemistry services and expertise for the generation of low molecular weight drug like compounds arising from De Novo's proprietary computational modelling for a number of targets currently within De Novo's discovery portfolio.

Dr Alan Stuttle, Chief Executive Officer of ChemOvation commented, "We are delighted at having been chosen to support De Novo in its quest for novel drug entities arising from its proprietary computational software. ChemOvation is able to offer its partners a high level of expertise in many aspects of the drug discovery process. We look forward to a fruitful collaboration with De Novo in supporting the development of their drug candidates."

Dr David Bailey, Chief Executive Officer of De Novo, added, "Our discovery portfolio concentrates on key target areas where there is an urgent need for high quality leads with potential for rapid progression into development. As we move forwards, we are building a network of efficient and flexible collaborations with companies such as ChemOvation through which to augment our internal capabilities in drug discovery."

De Novo Pharmaceuticals Ltd

De Novo Pharmaceuticals Ltd based in Cambridge UK, uses its proprietary computational software for drug design to create novel, patentable lead molecules as candidates for drug development against both enzyme and receptor based targets. De Novo's proprietary algorithms can convert ligand information or protein structure information in combination with medicinal chemistry rapidly into new chemical designs, maximising value within a pharmaceutical partner's research portfolio. In addition, De Novo applies its leading in silico drug discovery capabilities to its own in-house research programmes, generating high value lead candidates available for licensing.

ChemOvation Ltd

ChemOvation was established in 1998 to provide compound libraries to collaborators. Since its inception, the company has expanded to offer many aspects of the drug discovery process. ChemOvation collaborates with its clients to achieve drug candidate realisation by bringing together molecular modelling, medicinal chemistry, compound synthesis, primary screening, early stage in vitro toxicology and ADME. It configures expert teams to undertake projects including hit expansion and lead optimisation that are designed to give the strongest possible chance of drug discovery and lead generating potential.
